Shante Anthony Franklin (born April 4, 1981), better known by his stage name Curren$y , is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is best known for his 2006 single “Where da Cash At”.

As a teenager, he was signed to Master P”s No Limit Records until 2005,[1] when he signed with Lil Wayne”s Young Money Entertainment, where he remained until late 2007. The Album Music 2 Fly 2 never released under Young Money. While still at Young Money, Curren$y created Fly Society with skateboarder Terry Kennedy, first as a clothing company, then expanding to release music.[2] After releasing a series of mixtapes, he released his debut solo album, This Ain”t No Mixtape[3], through Amalgam Digital, in 2009. Amalgam has all of the mixtapes that led up to the release of This Ain”t No Mixtape, listed on their site for free[4].

Curren$y continues to release music through Amalgam Digital. Curren$y”s latest album release is entitled Jet Files[5].
