Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull (kurz: Tull) ist eine 1967 gegründete britische Rockband. Ständiges Mitglied und Bandleader ist der Komponist, Multiinstrumentalist und Sänger Ian Anderson (Gesang, Querflöte, Saxophon, Tin Whistle, Mundharmonika, akustische Gitarre, Mandoline und andere). Jethro Tull ist die einzige international erfolgreiche Band der Rockgeschichte, in deren Musik die Querflöte eine tragende Rolle einnimmt. Charakteristisch sind perfektionierte Techniken des forcierten Ausdrucks, etwa scharfes Anblasen, Flatterzunge und gleichzeitiger Stimmeinsatz. Der musikalische Stil der Band wird weithin dem Progressive Rock und Hard Rock und partiell dem Blues- und Folk-Rock zugeordnet. Zudem verarbeitete Jethro Tull Einflüsse aus Jazz, Weltmusik und elektronischer Musik.
